(Bad) scent of a man
IT’S part of the initial attraction package — his smell. Oh, that manly smell. A perfectly chiselled man glistening, sweat dripping from his abs, who comes with a whiff of Old Spice is heaven to many women.
But sometimes those male pheromones go haywire, and the chemical responsible for making men irresistible to women turn to funk. As the women below tell, these are still times when they continue to stand behind their men, even if it’s a few feet away.
Olivia, 33:
Have you ever smelt a man’ socks? My word! Take it from me, it’s enough to knock a grown adult out cold. In all my years of marriage the scent has never decreased, not even by the least! I dread the day when my nose becomes sensitised to the smell of his socks! I don’t let my children near his shoes.
Grace, 38:
When I was growing up my brother and his friends used to play football a lot. I would always know when he got back from training. The house smelt nasty, man! My mother would always wash his clothes separately from everyone else’s. I remember when my mother stopped washing our clothes for us, he was the first to be told to wash his own clothes and I believe it’s for this every reason.
Alice, 36:
I don’t know how I didn’t pick up on it before, but now I have the ring on my finger. My husband’s morning breath is something else! I mean, I have tried subtle ways at hinting to him that his breath stinks in the morning but no success so far. Pray for me while I continue to suffer.
Florence, 31:
For the new year my husband decided to take out a gym membership. Hey, I’m all for a healthy lifestyle. I never had this problem with him before but now I find that the sweat of fat burning doesn’t smell so pleasant after all!
Maisie, 40:
Some years ago my husband decided that he wanted a ‘man cave’. I don’t know where he got this idea from, anyways, I agreed. Hmm, I can laugh now but it is a serious matter. Initially he said that his ‘man cave’ was off limits. Fine. But I think he is taking this thing too far now. It’s as if his dirty laundry, football socks and sneakers are some sort of apparatus to ward off potential intruders! Trust me, his ‘security system’ is very effective as I don’t set foot in there. The most I can do is from a distance throw a few air fresheners in the room and hope that they don’t get dissolved by the odour.
Georgia, 27:
You don’t have to convince me some men just have a stench about them. I really don’t know what it is but there is definitely something there and it’s pretty strong. For me it’s a major turn off when the smell is coming from below the belt. Concerning even! I mean, how is a woman supposed to start a life time of romance with a man who smells especially when the smell is coming from the source of the romance?
