What to expect when attending a fitness boot camp
Maybe the conventional workout isn’t doing it for you. You’re that person who needs a bit more of a challenge. Why not step it up a notch and give fitness boot camp a try?
A fitness boot camp like TrainFit Club’s Outdoor Madness run by Stokely Rose is an intense workout guaranteed to make you sweat.
Stokely explains that fitness boot camps have been around for a long time in Jamaica with minor variations.
“The variety of boot camps we offer is a mix between a normal workout and the military style boot camp. Boot camp exercises are an intense workout, where you have a lot involved. Some of the components include resistance training, plyometrics as well as cross fit.”
There are numerous benefits to taking up the challenge of joining a fitness boot camp.
“For sure your heart rate will increase, your muscles will become more toned, your strength endurance will increase,” Rose said.
The fitness boot camp Rose offers combines the use of both conventional gym equipment as well as the use of everyday objects. “We use giant truck tyres, five gallon water bottles, big PVC pipes, heavy sandbags, sledge hammers, and the list goes on.”
Due to the intensity of the hardcore workout, Rose advises that you consult a physician before attempting to partake in any of the activities.
“The truth is, everyone has a different fitness level. And so when you attend a session it shouldn’t be about competing with the person next to you. It should be about trying to be the best that you can be at your level.”
Rose says the boot camp can be tailored to your fitness level.
This physical training programme sees as many as 20 persons coming out early on a Saturday morning to tug tractor tyres across a field using their waists.
“If you do decide to join in on a session, bring water, construction gloves, insect repellent as well as a mat,” Rose advised.
