No-cost gifts that will WOW him
MONEY a little low this weekend?
Anthony Gordon, certified family educator/counsellor and relationship specialist, said gift-giving doesn’t have to include spending cash, rather it can encompass other things.
“Remember there will be other bills to be paid after the glamour of the day,” he said. “Who says gift-giving has to be expensive? Creating the ambience at home can prove to be less costly and very romantic. Candles, roses and something new from the cookbook is always a reminder that e-f-f-o-r-t also spells I l-o-v-e y-o-u.”
So instead of running yourself bankrupt trying to get a gift, you could be the gift this season, or give no-cost gifts to your loved ones.
Here are some ideas:
1. Give your time
Though a price cannot be affixed to this, spending quality time with your partner or loved one might mean more than a monetary gift. They will appreciate that you took time from your busy schedule to spend time with them. Ensure you engage them in conversation, a movie or something special in the time being spent.
2. Cook
If you’re a good cook, now is the time to show off your skills. Surprise your partner with a new set of vows, complete with delicious food. Take care of all the details before the actual day, so you can be relaxed and enjoy it too.
3. Write love notes
It’s OK to write love notes to your partner and post them on your refrigerator or where they can be seen. You can also be creative and leave clues that may lead your significant other from one note to the next, until they find a selfless gift that would top the entire thing off.
4.The sexual gift
Gordon said a sexual relationship is seen by most persons as the ultimate gift, especially during this, the ‘love season.’
“For many, the ultimate expression is in the ‘gift’ of sexual relationship. Correctly understood, sharing one’s sexual self with another as a gift is really sharing of one’s whole being — body and mind. In this act of gift-giving, the couple gets linked, locked and lost in each other. It is the kind of gift that you would want to cherish and keep for the rest of your life. The act of sharing oneself intimately ought to go deeper than merely physical, but also both should bond emotionally, and spiritually,” he said.
5. Get crafty
Making cards or friendship bracelets together is a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your loved one. Get wool and find a DIY tutorial online and learn together.
6. Get flowers
If you’re into gardening, cut a fresh bunch of flowers from your garden and give to your partner. Make sure to arrange them into a nice bouquet.
7. Bake
In the age of the Internet, even if you had no clue, you could learn how to bake within five minutes. Find a nice recipe and whip up something delicious for your partner.
