Brutal break-up stories
They say confession is good for the soul, and some people even believe that to prevent karma from coming back to bite them in the butt, confessing and attempting to cleanse themselves from past misdeeds can help.
As such, this week a few readers are using this medium to confess the terrible things they have done to their ex-partners when they wanted to move on from the relationships.
Shane, 27:
I did a slide presentation. In the first couple of slides I outlined her good qualities and then the last few slides detailed the negative qualities about her, and why it wasn’t working between us. I thought about putting it on SlideShare but then opted not to. Let’s just say she didn’t react well to my slide presentation, which to me was not surprising since it was one of the negative qualities she had which I included in my presentation.
Mark, 32:
I recall sending her a text message that it was over. As soon as I did so, I blocked her number as well as those of her friends. From that I hold my straight, mi dun with her fi good.
Charlie, 31:
I broke up with this one girl via e-mail and copied all her friends just so they would know the current status of our relationship. Come to think of it, they were in our business from the get go and so it was only fitting that they be kept abreast as to any current developments in our relationship.
Chris, 23:
I ended it with this one girl via Twitter. I cannot tell you how many stars and retweets my post got. From the shares, I think she got the message.
Darene, 30:
When I think about it my boyfriend ended it pretty badly. He led me on for a long time knowing full well what he was doing. Because I was so attached to him emotionally, when he finally told me he wanted to break up with me I literally cried like a baby. If you want out of a relationship just say so, no one is holding you hostage.
Andrew, 34:
There was this one girlfriend I had and I just stopped talking to her completely. I blocked her number, unfriended her on Facebook, stopped hanging out in places where I knew she could be, etc. When I say I completely avoided her, I completely avoided her. The last gift I gave my girlfriend was the gift of absence!
Herbert, 36:
I met this other woman and I decided that I was going to leave my girlfriend. We were living together at the time. She went away one weekend to visit her mother. That same weekend I called a moving truck and sent all her stuff to her mother. The same moving truck carried my stuff to my new woman’s house. What a busy weekend that was for me!
Adrian, 30:
I ended my last relationship with my girlfriend through a mutual friend. At that stage in our relationship she was becoming too toxic for me, I couldn’t stand it. I didn’t want to see her. I thought it was best that I ask someone else to do it for me. At least I had the decency to tell her I wanted out. I know some of my bredren who just stop talking to their girlfriends just so!
Phillip, 27:
When I used to live on campus I remember just slipping a note under her door telling her it was over. My biggest fear at the time was that hopefully she could read my handwriting.
Tyrone, 38:
I started a rumour that she was with another man. I then waited a while and confronted her that I heard she was cheating on me. I left the relationship feeling like the victim.
Jasmine, 31:
I put condoms in his rubbish bins and then pretended to find them. I then started an argument and then we broke up. A girl has to know when to move on to better things, if you know what I mean.
Erica, 29:
I remember telling him that I was pregnant when I really wasn’t. I’ve never seen a man leave my life so fast!
Rohan, 35:
She claimed that she went to an obeah man and tie mi. So mi go a my obeah man and tek off the tie them before mi break up with her.
Ian, 32:
I invited my old girlfriend to a show once and turned up with another girl. She didn’t take it lightly and my new girl got her hair yanked, among other things.
