Caught in the act
PEOPLE who lead double lives can relate to the following quote –‘Secrets and lies kill relationships; no matter how careful you are, you will get caught’. In some instances the secrets and lies are insignificant, in others they are so huge that they drive a permanent wedge between couples.
Below are stories of people who tried to conceal their other lives, but their secrets came spilling out when they were caught in the act.
VB:
A few years ago I was having a relationship on the side with the live-in babysitter. At night I would go to her room once my wife and the kids were asleep. Well, my wife had her suspicions but I didn’t realise it. One night, a few minutes after I went to enjoy the sitter’s delights, my wife stormed through the door and found me on my knees and the sitter in her bed. I started reciting the Lord’s Prayer to pretend I was praying, but my wife didn’t buy it. She fired the girl and gave me a piece of her mind, telling me lightning would strike me for basically blaspheming.
BM:
My committed partner drove to my house one night after telling me that he was driving home. I had invited the other person over and my guy came to my house while the other person was there and I was devastated when I was caught. I felt like my life was falling apart instantly. I must say that I have promised myself to do better in the future.
WB:
My fiancé just showed up unannounced while the bunna person was there. I felt ashamed, confused and nervous and like it was the last day I was going to live. I felt horrible, disgusted, and it wasn’t like I had a plan.
NF:
My experience was the living Waiting to Exhale movie. As soon as my baby’s mother would leave for the country on weekends, I would invite my other woman over. People would tell her I was cheating, but I always managed to convince her that they were just haters. This went on for a long time, and I didn’t know that she was suspicious until one Friday evening she left, and as soon as the other woman came, she appeared again with blood in her eyes. There was plenty weeping and wailing from her, me and the woman on the side, and she got all my videogames and my favourite shoes and set them on fire right there in the front yard.
LM:
I felt like I committed the biggest sin ever. I realised how it truly felt to be stabbing someone in the back. I felt bad after doing it, yet a strange part of me wanted to do it again. It’s like I can’t stop the feeling of doing it again. I want to see that reaction on the person’s face again, but I am scared of getting caught again.
KF:
I wasn’t working and my serious boyfriend was living overseas. He was sending me money, but it wasn’t enough, so I had other guys in Jamaica. Well, one day my boyfriend called from a strange number, sounding strange, and I asked, ‘Who is this’, and started reeling off names. He realised then and there that I hadn’t been honest and cut me off.
