If your ex knocked on your door one night out of the blue and said,
THE above question, in various formats, has been the subject of discussion on several Internet forums, with comments ranging from the kind to the obscene when referencing people’s ex-spouses. After all, some reasoned, exes are the villains, the offenders, the devil’s spawn and even the Antichrist. For a local spin, we put the query to a few local readers, and here are their responses.
Roland R:
I’d take her to the hospital to get evaluated. My ex-girlfriend knows better than to show up without warning, plus if she were to be homeless then I would be aware and help to sort her out perhaps over the phone. But once she turns up out of the blue I know she’d be losing it. It’s inappropriate. You should only turn up to a house without prior notice and expect to get in when you have a key.
Francine F:
Him affi stay out a door. When I said I severed all ties with my exes I meant all ties. I don’t want you near me. There’s none I could ever be kind to.
Mario L:
Run her like how she run me — like a dog, but in her case like a b%!@h.
Nicole W:
He would have to go somewhere else or sleep on the steps. Come in whose house? No way! He was kicked out for a reason. I will not return to my vomit.
Andrew S:
I would show her the kennel. Lie with dogs you rise with fleas. I’m not taking that chance.
Wayne D:
I would ask her who’s coming in as well. Knowing her, she would be coming with her crosses and I can’t handle that.
Sharelle C:
I would try to assess the situation. If he was genuinely in need I’d call someone like the police or one of those shelters, but I’m no Mother Teresa, I would direct him to an avenue for help but I wouldn’t provide that help.
Alan W:
Show her the gate or the street side. Put her in a taxi and send her on her way.
Tanya C:
I’d welcome him because I still have ‘delusions’ about us being together again.
Nadine M:
I’d just shut the door in his face. After leaving me for someone else he’d have the gall to come back begging? No way José!
