Blind dating
Christmas is coming, and while for some the goose is getting fat, for others it’s a case of the lonely getting lonelier. For those who don’t have a spouse for the season, they may be open to trying new things, like blind dating.
We asked, does being single and ready to mingle mean that you’re open to the possibilities of blind dating?
Clarence, 43:
I am open to going down the right avenues to find myself a good woman. Sometimes my judgement of what is right for me doesn’t work out in the end, so if my friends and family know what I’m looking for and know someone who might fit that description, then I’m willing to do the blind date thing.
Elaine, 33:
Not too sure I would do that. It sounds good, but what do I then do if I’m not feeling the guy?
Sahara, 27:
I would go on a blind date; there is no harm in meeting new people. Plus it is always fun to meet the types of men that my friends think I would like.
Andy, 34:
I have been on a few blind dates; none of them amounted to anything more than fun in the bedroom. The last one I met, I met her through my cousin who was dating her sister. The woman was dead and boring, no vibes. I didn’t even try to get her to my place. I told my cousin never to let me meet any woman he got from the morgue again.
Clarisse, 29:
No, I have had my share of those. I don’t want anyone trying to hook me up. I’m good trying on my own, no thank you.
Melvin, 36:
I don’t know why people who know or have single friends assume that all single people they come across should date their single friends. Being single doesn’t make you compatible with other single people. So no, I don’t want you to try and get me to date someone you only know as being single.
Ava, 31:
I would be open to blind dating or any form of dating because my love life needs a good revamp. The type of work I do, plus my work hours, only has me dating a certain type of man and I’m truly over them. I need some new fish in my pond.
Valerie, 28:
I’m lonely but not desperate. The day I have friends try to set me up on a blind date is the day when I have lost all focus on what I want in a man. I have seen the men my friends have been with so I really don’t think they should be the ones trying to get me a man.
Dee, 33:
My mother set me up on a blind date once; she told me how nice a guy this man was and how he was an active member in his community. She said he was well educated and very much single. So I agreed to meet up with him for food and a movie. I chose an R rated movie. His car wasn’t working so I had to do the driving, and I had Kartel playing. It wasn’t until we went to get something to eat and we were talking that I found out that he was the son of the pastor at my mother’s church. I felt so embarrassed but he was a nice guy about it after I apologised over and over.
