Is it too late now to say sorry?
THERE are some songs we just can’t get out of our heads because not only are they catchy, but the lyrics are relatable to our particular situation.
This week we asked readers to share the song lyrics they’d apply to their current or immediate past relationships, and this is what they had to say:
Curtis, 27:
To describe my current relationship, I’d have to choose this line from Terry Linen’s song, Couldn’t be the girl for me‘, “You couldn’t be the girl for me, couldn’t be the girl for me, couldn’t be the girl for me, couldn’t be the girl for me”. I’d leave, but the relationship currently works for me right now.
Lisa, 34:
‘Is it too late now to say sorry? ‘Cause I’m missing more than just your body’. Justin Beiber’s lyrics really apply to my current relationship.
Melicia, 31:
My past relationship really embodies the lyrics from Ed Sheeran’s song Thinking out Loud. ‘And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways, maybe just the touch of a hand, Oh me, I fall in love with you every single day’.
Lisa-Ann, 30:
Collective Soul’s The World I Know embodies the angst and hopelessness I’m feeling right now after my guy died. ‘So I walk up on high, and I step to the edge… And I laugh at myself, while the tears roll down…’
Jody, 25:
When my last relationship ended he told me that no one else would want me, and for a long while I believed that. But now, newly engaged, I can smile and I wish I could belt out Beyoncé’s Flawless to my ex, because, ‘My diamond, flawless, this rock, flawless, my rock, flawless’.
Petal, 28:
‘Cause I’m dreaming of you tonight, till tomorrow, I’ll be holding you tight; and there’s nowhere in the world I’d rather be than here in my room dreaming about you and me’. This Selena song speaks to my current relationship.
Lori, 32:
I’m in a new relationship and my guy sent me this song one morning. It’s Coldplay’s Magic. Even though I know it’s just the bliss from the first few weeks and that it will probably fade, the fact that the lyrics speak to him wanting no one else but me, makes me feel awesome.
Donovan, 35:
My past relationship has to be described using Bugle’s song Nuh Compatible. ‘Baby, mi would a deh wid yuh, but guess wah, it no worth it, because mi know seh it wouldn’t help mi. You waan hype up, me lay back, you waan loud up, me don’t play that’.
Kiemar, 23:
My current three relationships can be described using the first two lines from Michael Bolton’s song Soul Provider. ‘Talk about love, talk about trust, talkin’ ’bout forever baby, when you talk about us’.
