I would do anything for love, but…
OVER two decades later, people are still trying to figure out what Meat Loaf wouldn’t do for love in the 1993 hit I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That). The theories abound, but what many of us can’t relate to is being able to draw the line somewhere when we’re struck by Cupid’s arrow.
What is the weirdest thing that you have done for love or in search of love?
Mark:
I met a Christian girl once. I knew she was a devoted Christian because she went to church every Sunday from she was a child. I have never heard of her doing any wrong or heard any man calling her name, and this drew me to her. So I went to the church she went to so I could talk to her. We started dating and before I knew it I was about to be baptised. I had not found the Lord, but I had hoped it would have brought me closer to her. But the night before I got baptised it dawned on me that what I was doing was wrong and I didn’t go back to the church. I told her the truth and she told me she was going to pray for me. Now we are just friends.
Donald:
My ex told me that she wanted to go to an all-inclusive hotel for a weekend on the North Coast. I didn’t have the money but I wanted to make her happy so I got a loan and took her there. When we got back I couldn’t do the things I used to do for her because I had to be paying back the loan. She got upset and told me I was a joke because all her other men did nice things for her all the time, so I told her to go and find them.
Stacey:
I met a guy who was into sports. I hate sports but I had to act like I cared about it, so whenever he invited me to matches I would go. He invited me to a small match in the country and I went, only to get hit in the leg by a cricket bat. I even had to go to the doctor. My leg was swollen and I couldn’t even walk. My friends laughed at me and called me batsman.
Amoy:
I thought I had found my soulmate and so whenever he wanted anything, I was there, more than willing to help him out. That’s until I noticed that I was being fooled by a user and ended the relationship. I spent more money on him than I did on myself.
Derrick:
I lied to a woman and told her I was a police officer and that I worked in the country. Little did I know that she would have called the station asking for me. When she found out the truth she cursed me out. We are still together though, because she knew that I was only trying to impress her.
