She called me the Pillsbury Doughboy
Teasing is a common part of relationships, whether it’s about your physical appearance or a weird quality you possess.
In fact, some experts say it’s one way to perk up relationships and reduce tension and animosity between partners.
But there are some words spoken that are just too harsh.
Below, a few people tell
All Woman about their mates’ foot-in-mouth statements that still leave a bitter taste.
Karen:
My boyfriend doesn’t like to be called out, so whenever I do that he will call me names like terrorist, ‘tegereg’ and virago and to be frank, I don’t like it. It gives the impression that I’m ill-tempered.
Anastacia:
He once jokingly said, “So when you plan to change your hair? It looks like a bird nest.” If he didn’t like the hairstyle I think he could have been kinder in saying so.
Luke:
My girlfriend always says she likes that my belly is soft and not rock hard. One day while resting on me she began saying I remind her of the Pillsbury Doughboy and kept making the ‘uh hoo’ sound he makes while laughing and poking my stomach. I was not amused.
John:
While my wife is talking, whenever she pauses she has a habit of running her tongue over her teeth with her mouth open. It’s very odd, but cute. While at a family reunion the topic of flaws came up and I mentioned it and everyone laughed, agreeing that it’s weird of her. Well, she flipped the script really fast and said whenever I’m snoring it sounds like a trailer gearing down and started mimicking the sound while rolling her eyes. I knew she was joking, but having everyone mimicking the sound and laughing was like having salt rubbed into my wounds.
Tamara:
I had locks for about 10 years and when I told my boyfriend I was going to cut them and wear my hair loose, he said no problem. When the day came and I was halfway through, he started laughing and cynically said, “Yuh see how yuh favour man, and look old and tough? A who yuh think you can walk beside?”
