Rules for his new woman
Sometimes a new partner has no clue what they have signed up for when it comes to their mate’s ex, and the rules about their children.
What has been your experience?
Lattie:
I had my boyfriend’s daughter over last Christmas. When I got her she was so underweight that I used my own money, not her father’s money, to take her to the doctor. She was malnourished. My boyfriend gives the mother money for the child but there are times when she doesn’t allow him to see her and apparently she has not used the money on the child. So I told him to buy the things the baby needs to minimise the amount of money his ex gets, and he agreed. I spent the entire two weeks caring for this child, even bought her new clothes and combed her hair. I had her looking like how a three year old should look. When her father took her back to her mother he came back with everything I had bought for the child, down to the clothes and hair clips he took her home in. Her mother didn’t want anything I got for the child and said that the child lost weight in my care. Bear in mind that the child had gained five pounds when she was with me. So since then I have kept my distance. I have bought a few things for her but her father has to tell his ex that he bought them.
Tanya:
I have been in that situation but I wasn’t a bitter woman, I was just disappointed in his choice for a partner and didn’t care much for his new lady friend. I didn’t want her around my child. She was much younger than I was and I really didn’t think my child needed a new playmate. My son was 13 at the time and this girl was 22, walking around in short shorts and bra-like tops. Seriously, my child wasn’t going to be around that.
Dale:
My ex moved on and I didn’t want any other man in my children’s lives. I have two sons with her and I just felt like they would forget who daddy was. It was silly of me to think that but in the process of learning this I made my ex’s love life a mess as no man wanted to be with her knowing that I was a mad head back then.
