Cringeworthy hygiene, and other confessions
A reunion of the cast of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé took a turn for the sleazy a couple weeks ago, with popular cast members Danielle and Mohamed exchanging the dirtiest details of what caused their marriage to crumble. It made for good TV, but with Mohamed’s tell-all, chances are that Danielle will never be able to secure a partner in future with all that was revealed about her.
Fact is, no matter how comfortable we are with our partners, there comes a time when we feel embarrassed to tell them about some things, especially if it’s related to hygiene. This week All Woman asked readers to share some of these experiences.
Gavin:
My ex had a terrible odour that would flare up when it was her time of the month. It was embarrassing because others picked it up too. She was fiery and I didn’t know how to tell her. I faked being ill and asked her to come with me to the doctor. When we sat down in his office, I explained her situation and left them there to talk. She was so embarrassed. We haven’t spoken since, and she dodges me whenever she sees me.
Shakira:
My friend set me up on a surprise date with her co-worker. I’m not sure what he ate before we saw each other, but his breath was horrible. I offered him a mint and he refused. When I finally couldn’t take it anymore, I just told him the truth and went home.
John:
Long before we got married, my now wife and I went to the movies. She passed gas a few times and it smelled horrible. People in the cinema started complaining and she pretended as if she was wondering who the guilty person was. I couldn’t bear to tell her that I noticed when she would rub her belly and ease up a bit to let the gas out.
Pinky:
After our first romantic weekend getaway at a hotel, my boyfriend ended the relationship. He said I had the worst morning breath. I was so ashamed. It took me a good while to stay over with my partner after him.
Dani:
I didn’t have the heart to tell my ex that his sex game was whack. He was a very nice person. I didn’t want to sound harsh and hurt his feelings.
MD:
In college I was dating this girl. Her breath didn’t smell so good, and to add to that she wasn’t the best in bed. She hates me to this day. Looking back, I was wrong for how I went about telling her though. I should have said it better.
