Identifying a wolf in sheep’s clothing
MOST people with devious intentions in relationships don’t reveal them instantly.
They appear docile and will use this calm and collected demeanour to manipulate you. They are often referred to as wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Sometimes it’s not easy to spot such a person, and usually reality sets in when you’re all tangled up.
Relationship counsellor Wayne Powell says it will take careful analysis and observation of an individual to spot a wolf, and if this is someone you are interested in or share a relationship with, your judgement can’t be clouded.
Watch out if:
1. He or she is nice just for a period of time
Powell said a wolf in sheep’s clothing tends to be overly nice and projects himself as the perfect gentleman until he gets what he wants.
2.The sympathy card
“He tells you sad stories to get your sympathy and after you lend him the money to get him out of the jam, he disappears,” Powell said.
3. The con artist
The relationship counsellor said this individual will tell you how he has a project that will bring you excellent returns, and after you invest your money, he uses it for his personal benefit.
4. The habitual liar
He said if this person is always lying and fabricating stories to give the impression that he is rich and famous, then he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
5. False promises
“He is always making promises but never delivers,” the relationship counsellor said.
6. The womaniser
Powell said if he tells you how much he respects women until you learn that he is an infamous womaniser, then take heed that he is a wolf disguised as a sheep.
7. Two-faced
The relationship counsellor said he tells you he does not drink, smoke or curse — until you discover his “hidden talents” at a social event.
