Are you better off than your ex?
AFTER a break-up, even if things ended amicably, you may become curious about how your ex is doing, and even have bad thoughts about them. If things ended badly, the thoughts may be much more venomous, even if good sense would suggest that you acknowledge your bad experiences, learn the lessons, and move forward.
Are they happy? Are they more successful? Did they find someone better? Or are they rotting in the pits of hell? Depending on where the break-up left you, any of the above thoughts may run through your mind, and sometimes there’s a hint of schadenfreude, knowing that the one who broke your heart is passing through difficult times.

My ex is doing OK. I’m not necessarily saying that either of us is doing much better. From the last time we spoke, she’s doing just fine. We both are working. Neither of us is married just yet. She’s going on fine just as I am, maybe even better.
