How to break off a relationship that’s heading nowhere
It is usually a tough call to end a relationship. It’s never easy to break up, but it makes absolutely no sense fighting for something that is clearly going nowhere.
A lot of people will know when it’s time to move on – the signs are usually clear as day. A relationship is supposed to have equilibrium, so if your ambitions don’t align with those of your partner, you will face a rocky road.
How have you broken off a relationship that was heading south?
RT:
I broke it off with my ex by making love to him one last time and then afterwards I told him I couldn’t do what we were doing anymore. Yes, he got extremely upset, but it was my way of killing it.
Mark:
I would simply just send a text. I know it is childish but I can’t deal
with the emotions that will follow so I prefer to be out of sight. My ex
actually hates me for doing that. She said she would have preferred I
did it face to face.
Ryan:
I wrote her a long WhatsApp message. She blocked me after that and that was it.
TF:
I took her out to dinner and we talked. To my surprise, she agreed, and we have been friends since then.
Gary:
I went to her house and told her I was seeing someone else and it was not her fault. She attacked me as I suspected, but at least I ended it and I really wanted to for the longest time.
