In the movie The 40-Year-Old Virgin, 40-year-old Andy Stitzer has, to the surprise of his friends, never had sex, so his friends attempt to help him get over this awkward anomaly by encouraging him to get deflowered fast.
The demand to prove their manhood means that many men get their experience with intimacy quite early in the dating game, some as early as their teens. In fact, American rapper Boosie Badazz set the internet off a couple months ago when after wishing his son Tootie Raww a happy birthday on Instagram, he vowed to get the 14-year-old a bag of money and sexual favours from a woman as a gift.
It’s all part of a culture where men who wait are seen as weird and freaks, as for the most part, the male gender is supposed to be experienced, and the females, chaste.
But are women also perpetuating this stereotype? We asked women, would you take the plunge and date a virgin?

No, I couldn’t. I am 25 years old and I have no time to be teaching a man how to tear up mi sheet! I am sorry, but no. Plus it would be a total disgrace for a grown man to have no sexual experience. His résumé is empty and that makes it a no chance. Sorry but not sorry.

No sexual experience? No sah, mi cyaan do dat. I am almost 40 years old and you know what they say about women reaching the 40 bracket – sex drive high! And for me now fi guh tek a man weh cyaan drive out my engine? Mi ago rotten dung. No!

This must be a joke. I don’t know of any sane woman who ago pick up a man weh cyaan do di wuk. In these times, grown men being sexually inactive is a big joke, much less a virgin.

No can do. I would definitely cheat because it takes time to learn about a woman’s body and if you’re waiting until your adulthood to start, that makes the time longer. I have no patience when I need an orgasm.

I couldn’t. I know of a guy who is almost 50 years old and he is a virgin. I don’t think he is going to find a woman willing to work with that. It is just too much.
