IWD highlights
INTERNATIONAL Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated March 8, saw local organisations joining the international call to #pressforprogress and celebrate women for the day.
Here are some highlights:
1. Kiwanians encourage adolescent others to challenge stereotypes
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals, Kingston, (from left) Shauna McLeod, Dwayne Bailey, Nateisha Sewell and Naketa West take a stand for the women and join in pressing for progress at the club’s panel discussion held in recognition of International Women’s Day. The event, which took place at the Women’s Centre of Jamaica Foundation,
was designed to empower the adolescent mothers to pursue their goals.
2. WROC hosts IWD forum and 35th anniversary awards luncheon

from the Lyndhurst/Greenwich communities, were awarded by the Women’s Resource and Outreach Centre (WROC) on International Women’s Day for their outstanding contribution to community development and nation building. WROC also celebrated their 35th anniversary as an established NGO.
3. JMMB hosts all-female paint & sip in celebration of IWD
JMMB Knutsford Boulevard branch hosted a dynamic all-female lifestyle event dubbed ‘Paint.Sip.Cheers’ on IWD at the company’s New Kingston offices in celebration of IWD. The event supported the company’s latest campaign — JMMB Her Wealth — aimed at empowering women to achieve their financial goals through a range of financial offerings provided by JMMB Group.
