We are separated but we work together
It is hard enough having eyes on your relationship when you’re in a workplace relationship, but when things end, the scrutiny is more pronounced. Below women share their experiences with the ultimate commitment to a workplace romance – marriage – and what happens when there’s a separation.
SD:
I had one of the nastiest separations and it was with one of the managers at my company, so not only did I have to deal with stress when I was home, I had my co-workers on my name. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, to the point where I had to resign. I couldn’t take it anymore. I would advise every woman going through this to seek professional assistance to guide you because marriage is no easy road.
Jillian:
My co-workers had a field day with my name when my marriage fell apart. I would hear a different story every week about my life as if I wasn’t the one living it. It was hell, but he resigned and I found peace. I am no longer working at that company either. I think if your marriage goes wrong and you are married to someone at your workplace, it is best to search for a new job because it won’t get better.
JH:
The best thing a woman can do in this situation is to start searching for a new job because I was once in that situation and it got so bad that we had an argument in the company and we were both put on suspension. It was like everyone was in our bedroom watching and it started to really affect me. I was depressed and stressed out. I think once this is the case, it is best to seek a new job.
KP:
I know of someone in this and every minute she has a breakdown because of what the people at her job are saying about her and her soon-to-be ex-husband. I wouldn’t recommend that any woman marries and continues working at the same company with her husband. It is just too risky.
AM:
I went through this. I never switched jobs. I stayed and he even got remarried right after our divorce. I feel nothing because it is over. It all depends on how the woman perceives life. Because yes it hurts, but I got over it.
