Vows: On The Wings of Love

Still floating on cloud nine in nuptial bliss are Forward Air Finance Manager Delvin Williams and Delta Airlines Senior Product Manager Joline Charlton, who tied the knot in a ceremony officiated by Ruthlyn Stoner-Haughton on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Trident Castle, Port Antonio. The couple met at Joline’s best friend’s wedding, and in that moment the interconnectivity of people in this seemingly small world had never been clearer. “Surprisingly, although I knew his sister, Delvin and I had never met,” Joline shared with Vows . And they should have; after all, Joline’s best friend Ashley is married to Delvin’s older sister’s husband’s brother. Once they met, it was if they had known each other forever.

By the fireplace…

A trip to Scottsdale, Arizona, in celebration of Delvin’s birthday, held more in store for Joline than she imagined. While his sister, Tangi, and Joline were picking up supplies for the weekend a proposal was being plotted at the house. Upon her return Joline recalls noticing someone dart around the corner, but as she expected two other guests to be staying with them, she didn’t think anything of it. As she approached the kitchen her brother and his fiancée, Krishna, came walking out. Delvin had secretly arranged a rendezvous. Delvin, however, had a few more tricks up his sleeve. “While I grappled with the excitement of having my brother and Krishna there, I felt Delvin take my hand and lead me towards the fireplace,”Joline recounts.

“I know you thought we came here to celebrate my birthday but we are really here to celebrate you,” she recalls him saying. He then got down on one knee, and started a speech which Vows imagines she hardly heard above the beating of her heart as he asked her to marry him.

Between shrill screams of excitement, Delvin slipped the ring on her finger and kissed his bride-to-be.

Here comes the bride

The verdant lawn of Trident Castle was bedecked with gold Chiavari chairs. Oversized floral arrangements flanked the altar and down the centre of the aisle rose petals were used to form the initials of the bride and groom. Indeed, Petals and Promises wedding consultant Kara Anderson created the perfect setting for an unforgettable day. It was here that some 100 guests, including friends and family who jetted in from the USA, joined the bride and groom for the all-white ceremony, themed “The adventures of Jo & Del”.

With Bebe Winans’s I Found Love playing in the background, the bridesmaids made their way up the aisle, in fuchsia chiffon Badgley Mischka dresses. They were escorted by groomsmen, smartly attired in navy blue tuxedos fitted with pink bow ties.

To the strains of How Deeply I Need You by Shekinah Glory, Joline made her way up the aisle on the arms of her parents, Glen and Beverley Charlton. She made a pretty picture in a strapless sweetheart Mori Lee mermaid wedding gown fashioned from marcella satin and finished with a chapel train. In her hand she clutched a Petals and Promises-styled bouquet of pink peonies and white hydrangeas.

Once delivered to her bridegroom the ceremony began, officiated by Ruthlyn Stoner-Haughton.

The reception

Showers of blessings forced a relocation of the reception to the main reception hall, where decor and lightning enhanced with beautiful mood lighting created an intimate ambiance. The sounds of I Like The Way You Move by Big Boi rang out as the wedding party made its entrance. This was followed by the introduction of the newly-weds to All Of The Lights by Kanye West, and their first dance as husband and wife to Childish Gambino’s 3005.

Between the laughter and celebrations guests enjoyed a scrumptious traditional Jamaican menu courtesy of Trident Hotel head chef Christian Ghisays.

The newly-weds eagerly anticipate their next adventure!
