How to get over your ex
Getting over an ex is sometimes akin to taking water up a hill in a basket – extremely challenging. It isn’t as easy for some as others, as they would have invested time, their heart, and for some, money, and that makes it even harder to walk away and stay away.
But closure is needed and below are guidelines to cut ties and cut them forever.
Have a final conversation with the individual
Try to have a conversation to ensure both parties are aware that the relationship is over. Be clear why and embrace your emotions about the person. If it is a case where you cannot have a conversation with the person, have one with yourself and be clear why it was indeed best to move on.
Delete the memories
Ensure you delete all photos and videos of the person and also their numbers and those of their family and friends. It is also suggested that you unfriend them on all social media platforms. What you are doing is getting yourself cleaned and ready for a new journey.
Invest in yourself
It is then time to start doing the things you love – all those that bring you joy and peace. When you are single, it is the best opportunity to re-invent yourself by doing a full inventory of your life.
Avoid conversations about the person
Talking about what happened over and over again will only add fire to the wounds and what will happen is you getting bitter instead of better. You have to dodge the conversations for the sake of your sanity.
Find new places to unwind
Avoid going to the same restaurants you used to with your ex even if it is with someone new. Understand that in order to build something new, you have to dismiss the old.
