Victory over the mother-in-law from hell

The movie Monster-in-Law was a hit, and one of the reasons why is simply because a lot of women could relate to its story-line. The real question is, is your guy worth fighting his mother over? We asked several women to share how they came out victorious handling their mothers-in-law.

Clare:

Well, first I was really ready to tell both him and his mother off and be done, but I loved my man too much. I saw that since I chose him, I had to get used to her too. I believed it was best to confront the problem and converse with her about her nagging. She would complain about everything we did because she lived with us. After I confronted her, she began to understand me. We have been best friends since. I believe it is always best to confront the issue head-on.

Dominique:

My mother-in-law hated me with a deep passion for no obvious reason. Because she was living with us for some time, she would find everything to argue with me about, especially when her son and I had disagreements. One night I moved out in tears. That was when she saw that she was hurting my relationship and so she backed off. She called me to talk it through, and things have been okay since.

Petrice:

I simply cursed her properly because I was tired of her constantly on my back. When I did, it shocked her to the point where she decided to apologise. Sometimes you have to stand up to what you fear the most to deal with certain things.

HJ:

My mother-in-law hated me because she loved my man’s ex. Because of that, she constantly compared me to her and that would drive me insane. It caused me to be miserable even towards him for not talking to her about it. I decided I had enough and I sent her long text message about how I felt. That changed everything.
