Vows: A Love To Last A Lifetime

When Digicel Finance & Change Control Manager Nadia Frankson and Jim Vesey, Digicel programme & commercial leader, met at Actavo Network Soloutions in 2015, where they were both employed, their single focus was to do well. Seems Cupid’s quivering arrow, however, had other ideas as three years later on November 17, 2018, the two were joined in holy matrimony, at the Rose Hall Great House, Montego Bay. Vows shares their journey to the altar.

A shared proposal…

Nadia and Jim both decided to take their relationship to the next level and set August 24, 2017 as their engagement date. A flight to Ireland was booked complete with travel itinerary — where to go, who to meet and where to get engaged. Dublin was where they’d purchase the ring prior to heading to County Mayo.

They picked the perfect ring and agreed that they would not announce the engagement or wear the ring until they reached Mayo the following day. Wishful thinking! Those who know Nadia understood that this would prove an exercise in futility! … She couldn’t just look at the ring in the box. So it was placed on her finger, where it was intended!

Here comes the bride…

As the sun set over the Montego Bay hillside, overlooking the Caribbean Sea, guests waited with anticipation for the resplendent bride to arrive and to witness the union of the two families amid a blend of cultures. Shevanise Lee from Weddings & Events Limited used shades of purple and dark blue, a wooden sign and liquor barrel with a large rose to decorate the area.

The bridegroom, wearing a blue Benetti Messi two-piece suit with ivory vest and tie from Protocol menswear, awaited his bride beside best man David Fallon at the altar on the lawns of Rose Hall Great House. The bridal party, pretty in purple Sakura Maxi convertible dresses were escorted up the aisle to Love Never Felt So Good by Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake by the groomsmen clad in blue Benetti Messi suits with white shirts and silver jacquard neckties.

Nadia was a vision of loveliness as she commenced her walk to I Found Love by Bebe Winans on the arms of her father Rondal Frankson and her uncle Vernon Goulbourne. She wore an ivory Mirjana gown by Morilee from Petals and Promises. Her bridal bouquet comprised hydrangeas, roses, baby’s breath, and carnations. The proceedings were officiated by Reverend Herbert Redway and included a knotting ceremony to symbolise the joining of the couple’s families.

The reception

The reception was exquisite. The lawn of the great house was beautifully adorned with a clear tent draped with silver, white and lavender décor. The location seemed to be plucked from a fairy tale with the crystals from the chandeliers sparkling in the light. Master of ceremonies Damian Austin welcomed the guests ahead of the arrival of the bridal party, who made their entrance to Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes, while the newly-weds entered to Ho Hey’ by the Lumineers. This was followed by the couple’s first dance as husband and wife to Ed Sheeran’s Perfect and Everlasting Love by Love Affair.

Post-formalities, guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal and witnessed the cutting of the five-tiered traditional fruitcake by the bride’s friend Ann-Marie Steele. DJ Dennis Lee immediately took over, and guests needed no further prompting to continue celebrating with Nadia and Jim well into the night.

The honeymoon

The couple honeymooned at Moon Palace Jamaica All-Inclusive Resort, Ocho Rios, for three nights and then Hotel Nacional de Cuba for seven.
