How our favourite IG families spent quarantine

AS many of us cautiously venture back into our workplaces, grateful that our face masks hide our true expressions at being at our stations again, we can’t help but reminisce on the new memories that were made with our loved ones in the last three months.

Of course, many sombre discussions about this period will be had in the conference rooms of governments, economists, health administrators and scholars for years to come, but there will also be many joyfully exaggerated accounts of ‘that time in 2020 when we all stayed home’ in family living rooms and around dinner tables.

And even for those of us who didn’t make that many memories, we spent so much time on social media that we started living vicariously through others.

Let’s quickly recap what our favourite IG families got up to during quarantine.

The Mitchells

Tami, Wayne and the boys, with their Meet the Mitchells vlog that was launched just as many of us were getting ready to pack up and run away from our families, welcomed us into their home and gave us a glimmer of sunshine as we trekked through the valley of quarantine. We saw the good, the bad and the ugly in that house — everything from the domestication of Wayne to the ghost in the house — and we loved them all the more for it.

The Bolts

Our sprint legend Usain Bolt and his boss babe Kasi Bennett closed their blinds to the public as they hunkered down in the final stages of nesting, and then welcomed their baby girl into the world several weeks ago. While we only have proof that Daddy Bolt was playing ludo with a few friends and dancing to Ding Dong’s Inside quarantine anthem a few weeks ago, we can only imagine that by now he has set the new world record for changing a diaper.

The Taylors

Garfield gave us the pics, and wifey gave us the words, and what a journey it has been for the Taylors. Lecia-Gaye was ready to quit homeschooling Jordy from week one, and we had no choice but to stan. We watched the highs and lows of their journey in snapshots — from their makeshift beach day, to the mouthwatering food pics that Bucka posted everyday, and the gruelling drills with Patrice White to work off the carbs. And after Lecia-Gaye caught a few sexy moves in Caleen Diedrick’s Zoom lap dance class, we can only predict that quarantine wasn’t a dud in that household.

The Campbells

Then there were the Campbells — draping us all up for not being more productive while at home. Of course Nicole did what Nicole does best, and turned every quarantine curveball into a teachable moment. Meanwhile, Sasco, tucked away in his home studio, went ‘loco’ on the beat. The kids were mainly studying, except for Lauren, who was busy scratching cars with her bicycle and offering $2000 for repairs.

The Davises

Although Beenie Man filled us with pride on the global stage in his epic Verzus battle with Bounty Killer, we still would like to have a word with Krystal. All this time we watched her running miles and pushing herself to stay in shape, all while fulfilling political duties and feeding her followers with good gas, and she was really being that guy by letting Beenie fall by the wayside with the dad bod. That’s not nice! We’re also grateful that Desha emerged from her car accident unscathed, and we are overjoyed everytime we get a glimpse of little Xiah!

Princess Bolt was not yet out of the blocks in this one, but by now she is probably shaving down her naptime personal best of 9.58 minutes.
Lockdown or no lockdown, Lecia-Gaye and Jordy hit the water, and they brought resident photographer Garfield along.
You know it was a good day in quarantine since all the Campbells were present and looking at the camera at the same time (including Joshua!).
Krystal and Mo’ are now at fitness trainer Patrice J White’s mercies until Beenie is no longer that guy.
