Soul confessions
They say confession is good for the soul, and while some confessions are cringey, like comedian and ‘beautypreneur’ B Simone admitting on a podcast that she doesn’t shower everyday, others are downright wonky, like Kourtney Kardashian confessing on her TV show that she was advised by a doctor to drink her husband’s semen to increase their chances of conception. And then there are the very awful confessions — the bad stuff that we would probably never reveal in a public space, ’cause that’s what pastors, priests and God were made for.
What is the worst thing you’ve ever done, that you’d want to get off your chest, but couldn’t before?
Abrianna, 24:
I was a young mother, no help from the dad, working minimum wage. There was just no way to make ends meet. I tried online jobs but nothing would pan out. I wasn’t interested in any other man, but someone at work liked me, and to get him to stop pestering me everyday, I just slept with him. After he left I found that he had left money on my night table. I couldn’t even feel insulted, because I needed the money. I kept it up, because it was guaranteed funds every week, until I was able to get back on my feet and cut him off, because I didn’t really like him like that.
Kevan, 30:
I didn’t take care of my youth because his mother dumped me for cheating on her. I had the money but I was punishing her. I didn’t care, honestly. When she met another guy and he stepped up and started posting my son on his social media, I started feeling bad. I’m now part of my son’s life, but my babymother’s stories about how much I hurt them both by not helping out, including how she didn’t even have enough money for milk sometimes, will haunt me forever.

I cheated on my girl with her friend who she had known since basic school. At the time I just saw it as a conquest, but afterwards realised that the betrayal was so much worse, because it wasn’t just a random girl. So I ended years of friendship over foolishness, and I didn’t even want the girl, so that made it worse.

You know how people hear stories and say that could never, ever happen to them? Well, until something happens to you, never say never. Let’s just say that one time I was so heartbroken over a relationship ending very badly (I can look back and shake my head now), that I went to a reader woman with items belonging to my ex, and part of the ritual was me, let’s just say, getting cosy with her nephew to seal the deal. I was also in Cross Roads late at night continuing the ritual with cream soda. Sigh. Let’s just say that my ex is still happy and healthy, and when I am tabulating my body count, I, shamefacedly, have to include the obeah woman’s nephew as my number four.
Omara, 40:
At the time I was doing it I didn’t know the long term effects, and thought I was doing the right thing. I was burning from my ex rejecting me, so I took our baby daughter and left the country. When she was old enough to ask, I told her he died. He went to court for years and years, but never got anywhere. I tell you, this man lost so much — cried, begged, in his attempts to see his daughter. But I was bitter, so I denied him the chance to be a father, and denied her the chance to know her dad. It was just recently, as a teenager, that she was able to reconnect with her dad. She has now left to go live with him, and it burns me that she seems to prefer him, but I guess it’s just my karma.
