And according to the women below, being dragged, mishandled and trodded on was their experience with the men in their lives, who proved that love can be the most savage thing.
Last week we heard from the men; this week women answer, ‘What’s the most brutal life lesson a man has ever taught you?’
Maya, 41:
You can give a man years of your life, build him from nothing, give him children and a good life, and allow him to heal from his childhood trauma, and when he levels up, he will just leave, like you meant nothing. In my case, he didn’t even have the decency to say goodbye. He waited until I was in the country tending to my sick mother, then had his friends help him pack his stuff and move out.
Brianna, 28:
Announcing a pregnancy will reveal to you what kind of man he is. The best, most honest, caring, decent man, will show his true colours once you tell him that you missed your period. Luckily for me, I was just testing him, and when he said “it couldn’t be mine”, I was out of there faster than Usain.
Zuri, 26:
If he jokes about you needing the pear of anguish to shut up, it’s not that he’s a Literature or History buff, or has a way with words, he may be a psychopath. Take the saying “what’s joke to you is death to me“ seriously, before he actually threatens you with a weapon when you’re having a simple argument.
Alexis, 34:
There’s no unconditional love. Love is very conditional, and the conditions are very loose for men. My self-described “soulmate” didn’t even last a year in our marriage, before he was putting words to the babysitter and passing himself around the community like a stray dog.

You are not the only one he is talking to, even if he’s spending every night at your place. In fact, you are probably just one of many, so don’t swear for any man. Every man is just a regular man like all the others, and they’re all predisposed to betrayal and lying.
