10 habits of women who always seem to have it together

ALAISHA THOMAS

WE’VE all met them. They arrive on time without looking rushed, remember birthdays, seem calm under pressure and somehow manage work, family, friendships and self-care without appearing overwhelmed. The truth is, these women aren’t perfect, and they certainly don’t have more hours in the day than anyone else. What they do have are habits that help them stay organised, resilient and focused.

If you’ve ever wondered what their secret is, it isn’t luck or superhuman ability, says mental health counsellor Angela Dacres. She said it’s the small, consistent choices these women make every day.

“Looking like you have it all together isn’t about having a flawless life. It’s about creating routines that reduce stress, strengthen resilience and help you navigate life’s ups and downs with confidence,” she explained.

She said the below are 10 habits worth borrowing, but cautioned that “you don’t need to adopt all 10 habits overnight”.

“Start with one or two, stay consistent and let those small changes build into something bigger,” Dacres said.

1) They plan ahead

Whether it’s keeping a calendar, making a weekly to-do list or preparing tomorrow’s outfit from the night before, women who seem to have it together know that a little planning prevents a lot of stress.

2) They prioritise their health

They understand that good health is the foundation for everything else. They make time for regular exercise, nutritious meals, enough sleep and routine health check-ups, not because they’re perfect, but because they know they function better when they feel their best.

3) They know how to say no

Instead of trying to please everyone, these women protect their time and energy. They recognise that every “yes” to something unimportant is often a “no” to something that truly matters.

4) They stay organised

From keeping their workspace tidy to using digital reminders and filing important documents, organisation helps these women spend less time searching and more time doing.

5) They keep learning

They read books, listen to podcasts, take courses or simply stay curious. They understand that personal growth doesn’t stop after school and that learning keeps life interesting.

6) They practice financial awareness

They don’t necessarily earn the highest salaries, but they know where their money goes. They budget, save regularly and think carefully before making major purchases.

7) They build strong relationships

They make time for family and friends, check in with loved ones, and surround themselves with people who encourage and inspire them. They know success feels better when it’s shared.

8) They don’t let perfection hold them back

They understand that ‘done’ is often better than ‘perfect’. Instead of waiting for the ideal moment, they take action, learn from mistakes and keep moving forward.

9) They make time for themselves

Even with busy schedules, they carve out moments to recharge, whether that’s reading, gardening, taking a walk, journalling or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee. They know self-care isn’t selfish; it’s essential.

10) They focus on progress, not comparison

Rather than measuring themselves against everyone else, they celebrate their own growth. They recognise that everyone’s journey is different and that small, consistent improvements lead to lasting success.
