Courtney Undah Privilege aims to fill void in music industry
Recording artiste, producer and actor Courtney Undah Privilege says he has shifted his focus to releasing God-centred music because there is a deficit in the industry.
He began this campaign with the release of Question, produced by Wylen Island Music/Bless Man.
“I decided to do it this kind of music because the world is lacking the true knowledge of God according to the Bible,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
He continued: “Purposeful music is missing from the reggae and dancehall landscape. Originally, the music was about struggling and upliftment from such struggles. Much of today’s music is sending the wrong message, although I respect the artistic community’s creativity.”
Question is reportedly sparking buzz amongst listeners and garnering response on numerous Caribbean-based radio stations, which have added the song in rotation.
“So far listeners are gravitating to the music without any problems. I appreciate the buzz surrounding Question and love that God’s word is reaching them too,” the entertainer added.
“It’s a heartfelt feeling to see numerous videos circulating of fans singing the song verbatim or vibing to the spiritual selection, especially in times like these,” said Courtney Undah Privilege.
The Jamaican entertainer, who resides in Oakland, California, has solidified himself as a reputable artiste in the Bay Area. He has shared stages with artistes, including Black Uhuru, Eek-a-Mouse, the late Sugar Minott, Super Cat, and more.
In the meantime, Courtney Undah Privilege is working on projects from his Podeville Production label and brand, for Nessa B, G Links, Beeki Bailey, Al Qemmi, and Santiina.
He is also looking forward to filming season 3 of Arnold’s Caribbean Pizza TV series, although a date has not been issued yet. He plays the role of Melvin on the sitcom, which is a refreshed take on
The Odd Couple.
Much to his credit, Courtney Undah Privilege has also appeared in movies such Gangsta’s Paradise, Straight Out, and Rude Boy the Jamaican Don.
