Ten contestants vie for Mister and Mister Teen Universe International Jamaica
Ten young men are competing for the titles of Mister and Mister Teen Universe International Jamaica. The finals will take place this Sunday, June 21 at the YMCA Auditorium on Hope Road in Kingston.
Geovani Lewin is the national coordinator for both competitions. He explained the training and preparation process that the competitors have endured over the past few weeks.
“It’s a rigorous process. We’ve prioritised training and development all throughout the competition, but this week is intensive, so we’ve pulled all the stops to ensure the gentlemen are in tip-top shape for the final night on Sunday,” Lewin shared.
He added, “Our gentlemen are set in mind and in spirit to show Jamaica what they’ve learned these last few weeks, so I believe they’re equipped to do their best come Sunday night,” he added.
According to Lewin, the gentlemen have made several public appearances and have been involved in several initiatives in the lead up to the event.
“Most notably of the appearances they’ve made was at Signature Style Clark’s Originals Store, one of our partners, their pop-up event in store,” Lewin said. “In collaboration with the Jamaican International Beauty Expo, we co-hosted the event to prepare Jamaicans for the Beauty expo that is to come just one week after our coronation, but also to give an exclusive look at the Clark’s ad campaign that our contestants modeled in.”
On Wednesday, the competitors will participate in a Trendy Couture Fashion Show at 6 PM at Jammin on The Oasis, 5 Oxford Road, New Kingston.
“This will be a showcase of what the collaboration between multiple pageant systems, male and female, can look like, as well as surprise post-show actives to help the public get to know our contestants a bit better before the grand coronation. I encourage everyone to buy a ticket, come out and experience a refreshing fashion event,” said Lewin.
Sunday’s event will see the first crowning of a Mister Universe International Jamaica. Last year, Jamaica’s representative to the Mister Teen Universe International competition, Bradley Clarke, finished as 2nd runner-up in Panama.
