DJ Khaled’s 13th studio album God Did is being released today via We The Best/Epic Records/Roc Nation. The 18-song set features These Streets Know My Name, a collaboration with Skillibeng, Buju Banton, Capleton, Bounty Killer, and Sizzla.
These Streets Know My Name was recorded in Jamaica during DJ Khaled’s visit in June.
The rapper’s love for Jamaican culture began decades ago when, as an upcoming disc jockey/sound system selector, he visited the island to showcase his skills at the popular Fully Loaded event.
This is his fifth collaboration with Buju Banton, third with Bounty Killer and Sizzla, second with Capleton, and first with Skillibeng.
God Did features a powerful line-up of hip hop and R&B hitmakers. They include Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, Lil Baby, JAY-Z, John Legend, Kanye West, Eminem, 21 Savage, Roddy Ricch, Quavo, Takeoff, Future, SZA, Kodak Black, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, Gunna, Latto, City Girls, and Juice WRLD.
DJ Khaled has featured Jamaicans on his albums since 2008. His third studio album We Global showcased Sean Paul on She’s Fire.
In 2010 Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, and Busta Rhymes were featured on the track Killing Me from the album Victory.
Two years later the album Kiss the Ring featured Mavado on two tracks, Aktion Pak, and Suicidal Thoughts.
Mavado is on three tracks from 2013’s Suffering from Success. They are Give it All to Me (featuring Nicki Minaj), Weed and Hennessey, and At the Top It’s Just Us.
2015’s I Changed A Lot featured the track My League with Mavado, while 2016’s Grammy-nominated Major Key, which has been certified gold in the United States, featured the Mineral Boss Records-produced track Progress by Mavado.
The double platinum-selling Grateful, released in 2017, features Sizzla on the intro I’m So Grateful and Mavado on Unchanging Love.
Father of Asahd, which went number two on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart in 2019, features Holy Ground by Buju Banton and Holy Mountain with Buju, Sizzla, Mavado, and 070 Shake. That album has been certified platinum in the United States.
The gold-certified Khaled, which was released in 2021, hears him working with Buju Banton, Capleton, and Bounty Killer on Where You Come From.
