Jesse Royal, Tanya Stephens, Munga for Ja 4/20 show
Celebrated globally as 4/20, April 20 is a day for lovers of all things cannabis (ganja).
Administrators of Jacana, a Jamaican cannabis company that specialises in medicinal products, plans to showcase its offerings at the four locations — Manor Park, New Kingston, Portmore, and Ocho Rios.
“It’s a concert/party with educational talks and symposiums on cannabis, culture and Jamaica. We’ve chosen artistes who indulge in cannabis, and we’ve heard Jesse Royal sing numerous songs trying to get cannabis de-stigmatised and presented for medicinal use,” said Shane Palmer, Jacana’s commercial director.
Among the line-up for the concert in Ocho Rios at Island Village will be Jesse Royal, Tanya Stephens and Munga Honourable.
Launched in 2018, three years after landmark legislation to decriminalise ganja, the company sparked a rush of similar entities owned by high-profile figures such as the Marleys and former Prime Minister P J Patterson.
“Jacana has established itself as a leading player in a competitive market,” said Palmer, explaining that the company’s products are derived from the 100-acre farm in Walkerswood, St Ann, with leading sellers include a variety of cannabidiol (CBD) items, ganja strains including the sour kush and a number of vape products.
The 4/20 movement is a global phenomenon with many ganja disciples gathering at designated spots at 4:20 pm on April 20 to smoke openly or express their support in different ways.
