‘Paws’ for ‘Cooler Fete’ cause
This Saturday, December 2, 2023 Montego Bay Animal Haven will host its major fund-raiser, Cooler Fete, on the Macaw Lawns at Hope Zoo.
The event promises to be a fun-filled evening with lots of surprises all in aid of their “voiceless furry friends”.
Under the motto ‘Together we can care’, the Montego Bay Animal Haven has been an inspiration to many in the mission of saving the lives of stray animals that are hungry, sick, abused, and left to die.
Started by Tammy Browne, a passionate animal advocate who firmly believes in being the voice of the voiceless animals who suffer, the organisation is a registered non-profit which relies completely on donations, both of time and money.
“Every little bit helps,” said Marie Baillie, the haven’s director, as she encouraged everyone to come out to have fun while supporting the worthy cause.
Tickets are available at Fontana Pharmacy, Barbican; Loshusan Supermarket; Noah’s Ark; AllPets Vet Clinic; Phoenix Vet; Mez Dispensary; and The Steakhouse at Devon House.
There will be welcome cocktails from Tito’s Vodka with prizes and a raffle throughout the fête.
On March 13, 2021, history was made in Jamaica when Montego Bay Animal Haven, in association with The Canadian Save the Scruff Foundation, and with the help of incredible vets and the amazing team of Chukka Cove and Ajas, some 144 dogs were sent to Canada that had been rescued from Jamaica’s streets, rehabilitated, and rehomed.
This operation is ongoing as there is a broad-based number of followers who frequently request to have a dog or cat sent to them overseas as well as others who adopt locally.
Montego Bay Animal Haven is located in Reading, St James.
Sabria Hector, who is now stepping into the role of managing director, is excited at the prospects and invites all Jamaica to support the cause.
Sponsors include NK Wholesale, Tito’s, Hope Zoo, Idle Awhile, among others. Music by Sparkles Productions.
Gates open 7:00 pm.
