Recording artiste Priel Morgan has followed in his family’s footsteps and is determined to keep the Morgan family heritage alive through music.

The singer is fresh on the heels of the release of his self-produced EP Growth.

“The feedback has been incredible! I’ve had lots of support from, family, friends, co-workers, et cetera. Even people that I haven’t spoke to in a while reached out to me and expressed how the songs made them feel, and how they related to them. I’m always interested to see how others perceive my music, and the connections they’ve made to it. I’m forever grateful to have the gift of creativity,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

The six-track project was released on October 28.

Morgan is the son of Grammy Award-winning singer Gramps Morgan.

He revealed that his father and other well-accomplished musicians in his family have had a hand to play in his pursuits.

“My family definitely played a huge part in my decision to pursue music as a career. Growing up in the family and experiencing Morgan Heritage concerts will definitely leave an impact on anyone who is blessed enough to experience it. It fuelled my love for music and helped me understand the power of it. Seeing my dad always travelling the world and sharing his gift always inspired me and made me want to create music with substance and feeling,” he said.

Priel grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, after his family migrated from New York.

He discovered his passion for music at 11 years old when he sang for an audience for the first time, singing at his fourth grade talent show. His influences stem from the likes of R&B, Neo Soul, and Pop.

Though he is just at the dawn of his career, he learned to produce, write, and mix, music at the age of 18. He has since then been utilising these skills for numerous records for other artistes, as well as his catalogue.

He made his first mark with his début single Parite, followed by Gravity and Tidal.

As he continues to grow, Morgan noted that sharing his first huge stage with his relatives earlier this year has, so far, been his biggest accomplishment.

“I would definitely have to say performing at the St Kitts Music Festival with my dad and my brother Jemere. It was my first time performing on a major stage, as well as my first time performing an original song on a big stage. There were so many talented artistes gracing the stage that weekend. Sharing the same stage as Romain Virgo, Chronixx, Burna Boy, and so many other incredible artistes at my first performance was crazy. I am forever grateful for that experience and that opportunity,” he said, adding that he would like to work with producer D’Mile.
