Mahogany set for another win
Mahogany returns to face the starters in the $1.5-m None Such Sprint Trophy, a three-year-old and upwards Open Allowance/Graded Stakes contest at 6 furlongs (1,200m).
Below is the analysis of the 10 runners in the None Such, which honours one of the best thoroughbreds to race at Caymanas Park.
1. MAHOGANY: (5 ch g by Sensational Slam – Mete-Orite) – Won the 18th running of the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Trophy (Grade II) over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on August 1, by 5 ¼ lengths in a smoking time of 1:05.1. Mahogany toyed with rivals before accelerating in deep stretch in a commanding performance to seal his status as the is top-rated horse in the land at present. This race should be another walk in the park for Mahogany. It has to be noted that Mahogany will be allowing lumps of weight to his nine rivals.
2. KING ARTHUR: ( 5 b g by Natural Selection – Geisha’s Art) – Ran no race in the recent She’s A Maneater Trophy at a mile. King Arthur, however, was a winner over this distance in the Eros Trophy. King Arthur is an in-and-out campaigner, so it depends on which King Arthur turns up tomorrow.
3. MAKE UP ARTIST: (5 b m by Adore The Gold – Lipstick Lily) – Talented filly who has won her last two races. Make Up Artist comes into this race well trained but racing against the best will be a tall order for this mare.
4. I AM FRED (USA): (4 b g Golden Lad – Happy Hailey) – This foreigner is going to find this race too sharp for him, especially with so many hot-steppers present.
5. DUKE: (6 gr h by Casual Trick – Lady MacBeth) – Consistent runner who has the ability to settle behind the many speedsters in this trophy event and there are many present, before coming on in the straight. A minor place is the best Duke can hope for.
6. LURE OF LUCY (USA): (4 b f by Uncle Lino – Ring of Faith) – Capable runner who was fourth behind Mahogany in the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Trophy (Grade II) in August. With Mahogany present here, the chances of Lure of Lucy winning are slim.
7. GOD OF LOVE: (6 b g by Adore The Gold – Shanda D) – Consistent runner who always gives his best each time he hits the track. God of Love finished second behind Mahogany in the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Trophy two starts back. He is expected to put in another good shift and could be in contention for exacta.
8. CURLIN’S AFFAIR: (4 ch c by Perfect Curlin – Nuclear Affair) – Continues to be prominent in his races with a second-place finish behind Jordon Reign’s standing out. Curlin’s Affair also finished third behind Mahogany but a place on the board is possible.
9. RACE CAR (USA): (5 gr/rn h by Race Day – Mcduffie) – A winner on last, Race Car steps up with repeating being a very difficult task.
10. GO DEH GIRL (USA): (4 dkb f by Justin Phillip – Pontificating) – Has no chance of winning this one.
