Bloody 48 hours for Westmoreland as parish records multiple murders
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — Over the past 48 hours, the parish of Westmoreland has recorded more than four murders.
The latest victim is 19-year-old Oshanie Shaw, who was gunned down in Geneva District, Grange Hill on Friday morning. Shaw was of an Alma district address in the community.
According to a police report, the deceased was amongst a group of persons sitting in a yard talking, when they were pounced upon by men armed with handguns. The gunmen reportedly approached and immediately opened fire at them. They all ran in separate directions.
After the shooting subsided, residents summoned the police. Upon the arrival of the lawmen, Shaw was found lying on his back in a pool of blood. He received gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to the Savanna-La-Mar Public General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The gunmen managed to escape.
Investigations are ongoing.
