CARIFTA Games: Second javelin record for The Bahamas
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dior-Rae Scott of The Bahamas highlighted Monday morning’s session of the 49th CARIFTA Games at the National Stadium with a record 44.57 metre throw to win the Under-17 Girls’ javelin.
It was the second javelin record for The Bahamas after Keyshawn Strachan broke the Under-20 record on the opening morning on Saturday.
On Monday, Scott threw the record in the third round, breaking the old mark of 42.90m set in 2007 by current West Indies cricket all-rounder Deandra Dotting of Barbados.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Kenika Cassar was second with 42.86m and Grenada’s Suerena Alexander was third with 42.57m.
Meanwhile, hosts Jamaica added four more medals including two more gold on Monday morning in the Under-20 Girls’ high jump and long jump events.
