Cornwall avenge U-14 loss to Herbert Morrison

ST JAMES, Jamaica— Cornwall College made a swift response to their opening loss in the ISSA Western Conference Under-14 boys basketball competition on Thursday after beating Herbert Morrison Technical 34-29.

Cornwall College kept up a strong lead throughout the game as they played on their opponent’s home turf. However, Herbert Morrison rallied mid-way through the game after trailing 5-13 at the end of the first quarter and picked up some points to finish 15–17 at halftime.

It was, however, not enough though to take the lead from Cornwall College who kept up the pressure.

Cornwall College’s Carlyle Tingling, who missed the first game against Herbert Morrison, led all scorers with a double-double 18 points and 13 rebounds. Andrew Reid scored six points and Nathan Hinds scored five.

Tyler Linton, who was scoreless in the first game, led Herbert Morrison with 12 points, while three players – Mordekai Anderson, Kyla Palmer and Michael Johnson – all scored four points each.

Herbert Morrison had won the opening game by 10 points with a score of 22-12 and currently lead the tables after they got points from Holland High who had failed to show up for their game.

Herbert Morrison are on five points, followed by Cornwall College on three and Holland High yet to get on the points tables.
