Dinthill Technical through to d’Cup semi-finals despite loss
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica- Despite losing for the first time this season, two-time champions Dinthill Technical is through to the semi-finals of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup football competition as the quarter-finals ended on Tuesday.
Garvey Maceo High also booked their ticket to the semis, joining Group A qualifiers Clarendon College and Glenmuir High. The four schools have also made it into the first round of the ISSA Champions Cup competition.
Dinthill Technical lost 2-1 to BB Coke High but topped Group B on goal-difference as three schools finished on six points on a gripping day of football.
Dinthill Technical, like BB Coke High, finished the game with 10 players, but Raheim Harris’ late goal was the difference between first and second place. They will face Glenmuir High in one semi-final match while Garvey Maceo High will take on Clarendon College in the other. Both matches are set for November 22.
Dinthill Technical topped the group with a plus-four goal-difference, ahead of Garvey Maceo High’s plus three with BB Coke High’s Cinderella run ending on a negative two goal-difference.
Garvey Maceo High beat Cornwall College 2-0 to finish second in Group B and returned to the semi-finals for the first time since the 2021 season when they won the title.
Clarendon College came from a goal down to beat Glenmuir High 2-1 to top Group A with maximum nine points while Manchester High ended the round with a 3-1 win over Christiana High.
