Fireworks expected for 60m Men Open at Gibson/McCook Relays
KINGSTON, Jamaica – All eyes will be glued to the track when the eight finalists of the 60m Men Open line up to vie for a cash prize of US$10,000 (J$1.5 million) in the highly anticipated race at the Gibson/McCook Relays on Saturday.
Zharnel Hughs of Racers Track Club qualified with the fastest time of 6.52 seconds. The second fastest man over 100m, Yohan Blake of Titan Track Club, followed closely behind with a 6.54 clocking, while his teammate, Ackeem Blake clocked 6.56 seconds to book his spot in the final.
Brendon Rodney recorded a personal best of 6.57 to advance, while Eugene World Athletics Championships 100m finalist, Oblique Seville of Racers Track Club, ran the same time to punch his ticket in the event.
GC Foster College’s Kadrian Goldson and 2022 Commonwealth Games 110mh champion, Rasheed Broadbell (PB) and SWEPT Track Club’s Emmanuel Archibald (PB) clocked a time of 6.59 seconds to qualify.
