Jamaica reports 152 new COVID cases, two deaths
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica reported 152 new cases of COVID-19 and two fatalities on Wednesday, according to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
This pushed the total number of cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic to 141,026 and the death toll to 3,093.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 93 females and 59 males with ages ranging from 18 days to 95 years.
The cases were recorded in St Catherine (50), Kingston and St Andrew (43), Clarendon (12), St Thomas (12), St Elizabeth (nine), Manchester (seven), St Mary (seven), Westmoreland (four), St James (three), Hanover (two), St Catherine (two), and Portland (one).
Meanwhile, the latest deaths are a 60-year-old man and an 88-year-old man, both from St Catherine.
Another death was also reported as coincidental.
The country also recorded 164 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 88,364.
The positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 24.6 per cent.
There are 128 people hospitalised, four of them critically ill.
There are 2,558 confirmed active cases on the island.
