KINGSTON, Jamaica – Defending boys champions Kingston College and Wolmer’s Girls’ are the leaders after Friday’s first day of the Corporate Area Championships that is being held at the National Stadium.

Kingston College lead the boys section by 19 points, 148 to 129, over Jamaica College, Calabar High are third with 115 points with Excelsior High fourth on 38 and Wolmer’s Boys’ on 37 in the top five

Wolmer’s Girls’ are ahead in the girls section with 131 points, just seven ahead of defending champions Excelsior High-124, Immaculate Conception are third with 104, the Queens School are fourth with 62.5 and Camperdown High fifth with 41 points.

Among the finals that were decided on Friday: Royan Walters won the boys’ Class 1 long jump with a wind aided 7.60m (6.4m/s), Jamaica College’s Uroy Ryan was second with 7.57m (5.9m/s) and his teammate Trevon Winston Hamer took the bronze medal with 7.11m (6.2m/s).

Wolmer’s Girls’ Malaika Cunningham won the Class 1 girls’ high jump, clearing 1.75m, beating Excelsior’s Cheneesa Davis-1.60m and Immaculate Conception’s Mireya Simpson- 1.50m

World Championships shot put medallist Kobe Lawrence of Calabar won the Class 1 boys’ discus throw with 54.50m, his teammate Delano Lawrence was second with 51.09m and Jamaica College’s Zachary Campbell was third with 50.04m.

Kingston College’s Daijon Budhai won the Class 2 gold with 45.51m, Jamaica College’s Denzel Phillips was second with 42.98m and Calabar High’s Deandre Henry was third with 40.26m.

The Johnson twins of Camperdown won gold and silver in the girls’ Class 1 discus throw, Brittania won with 47.70m, Brittanie was second with 42.91m and Immaculate Conception’s Maja Henry was third with a personal best 37.91m.

Jamaica College’s Michael Andre Edwards won the Class 2 boys’ triple jump with a wind-aided 14.29m (5.9m/s), Kingston College’s Roshawn Onfroy was second with 13.38m (2.5m/s) and Kijaun Williams of Calabar High was third with 13.28m (6.7m/s).
