Police impose curfews in Waterhouse, Olympic Gardens, following spate of shootings
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Following a number of shootings that have left multiple people dead and a number of others nursing injuries, curfews have been imposed in the Olympic Gardens and Waterhouse communities.
The curfews took effect at 8:00 pm on Tuesday and will continue until 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 8.
In Olympic Gardens, the boundaries of the curfew are:
NORTH: Along McKinley Crescent and Lendene Drive from Olympic Way to Seaward Drive;
EAST: Along Seaward Drive from McKinley Crescent and Lendene Drive to Bay Farm Road;
SOUTH: Along Bay Farm Road from Seaward Drive to Olympic Way;
WEST: Along Olympic Way from Bay Farm Road to McKinley Crescent and Lendene Drive.
In Waterhouse, the boundaries of the curfew are:
NORTH: Along an imaginary line (that runs parallel to Sandy Gully) from Unity Lane and
Australia Road via Balcombe Drive to Seaward Drive;
EAST: Along Seaward Drive from the imaginary line ‘A’ to Olympic Way;
SOUTH: Along Olympic Way from Seaward Drive to Australia Road and Unity Drive via Balcombe Drive;
WEST: Along Australia Road and Unity Drive via Balcombe Drive from Olympic Way to the imaginary line.
Individuals are reminded that during the hours of the curfew, all persons within the boundaries of the curfew are required to remain within their premises unless otherwise authorised in writing by the ground commander.
