Stellar lineup for Art of Reggae Music Festival Mother’s Day concert in Florida
When Alanzo “Stretch” Miller and his team launched the Art of Reggae Music Festival Mother’s Day concert in South Florida last year, they were determined to present wholesome family entertainment.
He believes they achieved that and, for their second year, are looking for a cast of mainly veteran artistes to bring out a full house to celebrate mothers.
“We expect a lot of mature people just like last year and there’s something special for the kids as well. There’s a strong lineup of artistes and I know the moms and everyone will appreciate them,” Miller told OBSERVER ONLINE.
Leroy Sibbles, Glen Washington, LUST, Wayne Wonder and Romain Virgo are headliners for the event which takes place May 14 at Arts Park in Young Circle, Hollywood.
The inaugural show, which was well-received, featured Wayne Wonder, Singing Melody, Marcia Griffiths and Freddie McGregor.
Because his father was a show promoter, Miller, who is from St Ann, has long admired veteran artistes like Sibbles, Washington, Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, Errol Dunkley and Jimmy Riley.
He notes that many of them have died in recent years and his generation never saw them perform.
“That’s something else we try to do with our show. When young people come, they can put a face to the hits,” he said.
Miller and his brother, DJ Brad, have operated the Extacic sound system in South Florida for the past three years.
