Sunshine Girls win gold at CAC Games
The Jamaica Sunshine Girls created history at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games when they won the gold medal in the final on Friday.
The Sunshine Girls defeated Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago 50-36 in the final to win the first ever gold medal in the championships.
This was the first time in the history of the championships that netball was being played.
The Jamaica team, which includes five players who will be representing the country at this month’s Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, led 10-12 at the end of the first quarter and 23-16 at half time.
The Sunshine Girls extended their lead to 38-27 at the end of the third period.
Meanwhile, St Vincent and the Grenadines created a massive upset when they defeated Barbados 51-50 to win the bronze medal in the third place play-off game.
