WATCH: Freak storm causes traffic chaos in Westmoreland
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Traffic is at a standstill along the Anchor main road in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, following a freak storm that downed utility wires and poles on Saturday afternoon.
Jamaica Fire Brigade workers are presently on the scene.
One firefighter told OBSERVER ONLINE that the Anchor Main Road in Culloden is not their first stop, as other areas have suffered severe damage as well.
Debris including fallen trees and broken branches are along the thoroughfare.
A long line of motorists have been stuck in a traffic jam for the past hour. However, the police have arrived on the scene and are making attempts to clear the gridlock.
One motorist could be seen exiting his vehicle and using a machete to cut the tree limbs, to aid in cleaning the main thoroughfare from Westmoreland to Kingston.
