WATCH: Golding awards 100 PEP students
KINGSTON, Jamaica -The Leader of the Opposition, Mark Golding has awarded 100 students from across his St Andrew Southern constituency for their outstanding performance in the the Primary Exit (PEP) Profile examinations, on Thursday.
Golding is continuing a programme started by former Member of Parliament Dr Omar Davies back in 2000.
Golding told OBSERVER ONLINE that the award is a grant toward first year secondary school tuition cost and general school cost.
“Depending on how well they do, we have three different levels of award. This is something that we are very happy to do and we encourage and ask for help when doing it and we get good support from a network of private sector donors – corporate and individual donors – who see fit to support it,” Golding said.
He added that with the increased costs for back-to-school preparation, he is happy that he was able to assist parents with the grants.
