WATCH: Residents marooned in St Thomas; cops advise motorists to avoid area
ST THOMAS, Jamaica— More than 20 residents have been marooned in the Hordley Crossing area of St Thomas since Thursday, the police have advised.
This is a result of the heavy rain lashing the island because of a system which is expected to pass over Jamaica between Friday and Saturday.
Head of the St Thomas Police Division, Superintendent Allison Byfield said the police have been seeking assistance and doing their best to help the marooned residents.
“We have 22 people marooned there, and we are unable to get to them,” Superintendent Byfield said.
She is advising motorists and others not to proceed to that area and use alternative routes.
Up to publication time, representatives from the Jamaica Defence Force were reportedly on their way to airlift the residents from the community.
