Community remorseless for St Elizabeth deceased found in burnt-out vehicle
WHILE detectives attached to the St Elizabeth Criminal Investigations Branch probe the circumstances behind the murder of a man, who has been identified as Kenneth Barnes, people purporting to know him well claim the attack could have come from anywhere, alleging that the deceased was of a shady character.
According to the police, they were summoned to Cane Piece Road in Siloah at around 5:30 am on Wednesday by people who stumbled upon a torched Toyota Wish motor vehicle which had human skeletal remains inside.
It is theorised that he was killed at a different location from where his body was found and the motor vehicle subsequently set on fire.
The scene was processed and the remains taken to the morgue, where the identification process began.
It is alleged that a gold tooth was one of his most recognisable features.
Moreover, one woman who resides in Accompong, St Elizabeth, claims Barnes is well known to the Maroons in the parish.
“He is from Aberdeen in St Elizabeth, but he has children in Accompong. He used to live up here for years and then him go several different countries and come back. He went to England, America and the last place him go was Columbia and come back. Is a man weh get deport more than once. Dem man deh live a kind of way, that doesn’t make this surprise me. Him and man always inna a problems, so it can come from anywhere,” the woman, who requested anonymity, claimed.
Another woman who was vocal on the matter, but also requested anonymity, alleged that the deceased was being accused of having some knowledge of a recent robbery at a business establishment in St Elizabeth.
“People know bout dem man deh ways. Sometimes him name woulda inna some thief or robbery argument and nuff other things too.”
The police, however, did not reveal any information as to there being any truth to allegations of the possible involvement of the deceased in nefarious activities.
