Prominent NY attorney celebrates birthday in MoBay with actress Phyllis Stickney

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Top New York civil rights attorney Lauren P Raysor celebrated in Jamaica recently with her friend of many years, actress and activist Phyllis Stickney, with whom she shares a birthday.

The noted attorney used the opportunity to rest and recharge from her usual hectic schedule. She, however, used the backdrop of her relaxed environment at the beautiful Dream Castle Villa in Ironshore to begin discussions on a few projects.

In an interview with the Sunday Observer, Raysor noted that while this was her first visit to Montego Bay, it would not be her last.

“I love Jamaica, and staying in Montego Bay made me really fall in love with the island. It was an amazing experience. Being in Montego Bay and staying at the incredible Dream Castle Villa was so refreshing! I was surrounded by positive people, great music and infectious vibes. The view from my suite was breathtaking. I appreciated the wonderful hospitality by the staff, being spoiled by the chef with a taste of Jamaica and the charming energy from the owner/host Gwen Nicks,” she gushed.

The attorney noted that the Jamaican getaway was needed, as given the nature of her practice, it is often difficult to take a break. While it was a short visit, it was important and afforded her the chance to unwind and reflect.

“It was an incredible soul-searching break for me. I did a lot of dancing which was rejuvenating. It is necessary for everyone to enjoy themselves and find their peace, especially those professionals who deal with a lot of stress or pressure. I was able to give myself a gratitude check and learned to truly count my blessings with this vacation,” Raysor stated.

Another reason the attorney and author said she was in Jamaica was to gain inspiration and unpack all the creativity for her second book.

Her first book, published in 2010 is titled Living The Wealthy Life: 18 Principles to Achieving Success, Prosperity and Happiness, and is a guide for those who may be making certain decisions about their personal and professional goals as they strive for success and eventual wealth, but often have the wrong perception.

When asked to single out her most memorable moment from her visit, she had difficulty, noting there were so many. She highlighted her warm and gracious owner/host Nicks who made a surprise visit.

“Not to mention the breeze from the beach, an awesome chef and staff who catered dinner, live entertainment, and an impromptu spoken word performance from celebrity actress Phyllis Yvonne Stickney accompanied by the one-man band,” she noted.

She said plans are underway for what is hoped will be an invitation-only Mother’s Day Weekend Spa Retreat for May 2023.

Celebrity actress and comedienne Stickney is working closely with Dream Castle Villa to host a fantastic weekend getaway. The spa retreat will be promoted through their respective networks to attract the ‘right audience.’

The top civil rights attorney, a graduate of Fordham Law School, is often described in some circles as the female Benjamin Crump, a comparison which she believes is flattering.

“I believe both of us are advocates for justice and that is the biggest reward for this work. I have organised and supported protests, brought awareness to a mass of people, wrote many letters to district attorneys, attorneys general, and elected officials to change policies along with demand justice,” Raysor explained.
