Sandals Ochi plays host to successful multi-station radio remote
More than 25 million listeners across North and Central America were tuned to all things Jamaica over the past few weeks as Sandals Resorts International (SRI) and the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) hosted its first multi-station radio remote for 2022 at the picturesque Sandals Ochi Beach resort recently.
Eighteen international radio stations were joined by the Bim Show, on Jamaica’s Fyah105 to give local listeners a taste of the action.
With the backdrop of Sandals Ochi Beach resort, the more than 70 DJ’s and journalists engaged their listeners on all things destination Jamaica with lively storytelling interviews with representatives of Sandals and the JTB, highlighting why Jamaica continues to be a leading vacation destination even as travel continues to rebound from the pandemic.
General manager of Sandals Ochi Charles Blacher shared: “Having the opportunity to host such a dynamic team from the different parts of the world was a delight. Also having our local energy packed the Bim Show — a new move to directly incorporate our local audience — was an added incentive.
“The overall diversity of the members of the visiting team was amazing as we also included a crew from Central America. It was truly amazing to get our product across to so many diverse listeners.”
Sandals representatives, including Executive Chairman Adam Stewart and members of the resort team — from food and beverage to entertainment — shared company updates and plans as well as showcased activities in store for each anticipated visitor to each resort.
JTB representatives, and its sponsors, were also on hand to share with the listening publics even more reasons for choosing Jamaica for their next vacation.
“The team for this radio remote had diversity as they were able to impact the different age spectrum as well as merging the traditional with the new media landscape with relative ease. The support that we received from our major sponsor, the JTB, augurs well for the resort as we were able to share our plans with our prospective visitors to the resorts,” said Blacher.
Each radio station had the opportunity to air the stories of different team members and highlighted the value-added component presented by the JTB-sponsored entities.
As part of the ‘work-cation,’ radio guests were able to explore Ochi’s beauty, and pristine attractions via the Island Routes team.
On resort, the on-air hosts were able to enjoy incredible five-star global gourmet dining, luxurious accommodations, daily and nightly entertainment with the Speak Easy Rabbit Hole being one of the most visited areas.
To top things off, each station offered their listeners the chance to win their own four-day/three-night luxury included vacation to any Sandals resorts, with round-trip airfare on American Airlines.
