The organisers of next year’s Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run said they hope to raise a record $100 million from the 26th staging of one of the Caribbean’s premier road event, which will take place on February 18, 2024.

It was announced at a press conference held at the Jamaica Pegscus hotel on Thursday.

The 5K walk, run, and wheelchair race, will place on a street course from New Kingston to Half-Way-Tree and back and will see Andre Blake, captain and goalkeeper for the senior Reggae Boyz, and Rushell Clayton, a two-time World Championship bronze medallist being the patrons of the event.

The beneficiaries this time year will be the Savanna-La-Mar Public General Hospital, the national Chest Hospital, and the Danny Williams School for the Deaf.

Christopher Zacca, president and chief executive officer of Sagicor Group Jamaica, announced that this year’s Sigma Corporate Run is unique since it will be dedicated to the memory of Dr Danny Williams.

Williams was the philanthropist and chairman of the Sagicor Foundation board and also the founder of Life of Jamaica Limited.

“As a friend and mentor to many, Danny’s influence on our community and his unwavering commitment to the positive change resonates deeply with the spirit of the Sigma Corporate Run. As we move forward, we pledge to honour him by continuing the mission of improving the lives of all Jamaicans,” said Zacca, who has recently beeng appointed chairman of the Sagicor Foundation.

“Over the past 26 years, the Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run has evolved into a beacon of hope for our society, raising over $650 million in total for numerous charities in the health and education sectors. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has donated, participated, and support the run,” he added.

Mark Chisholm, director of Sagicor Foundation, said that the Sigma Run was built on the foundation of doing remarkable acts of kindness to drastically improve the lives of families and communities across Jamaica.

“Since 1999, the Sagicor Foundation has made great strides to galvanise support from corporate Jamaica, and other sponsors to assist our health-care workers and institutions continue their vital work, saving the lives of our citizens, especially our children,” he said.
